Global water demand has increased rapidly over the last 50 years and only continues to grow. Water is a precious natural resource and much of the UK is moderately or seriously water stressed so it is important to conserve it wherever possible, especially as we experience hotter and drier summers. If we all do our part in conserving water then we can make a big difference to our impact on the environment, and by using less, our rivers and other wetland habitats will be able to better support the wildlife that relies on them.

Top 5 Tips

Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth and shaving.

Install a low flow shower head and reduce shower time by 1 minute. 

Use a water butt to collect rainwater that you can water the garden with. 

Fix household leaks.

Maximise dishwasher and washing machine loads before putting them on.
